  潘会平,博士,华南理工大学数学学院副教授,研究方向为复分析(Teichmuller理论),主要研究曲面上的复结构、双曲结构、平坦结构等几何结构,以及这些结构之间的形变理论,相关研究成果发表在Math. Ann.、Trans. Amer. Math. Soc.、Int. Math. Res. Not.、Sci. China Math.等期刊。

讲座简介:

  The Thurston earthquake theorem says thateveryhyperbolic surface in the Teichmuller space can be deformed to every other hyperbolic surface by a unique (left) earthquake. However, this is in general not the most efficient path. Motivated by understanding the“efficience”of deforming one hyperbolic surface to another through earthquake, we initiate the study of the so called earthquake metric (introduced by Thurston). In this talk, we will describe some properties of this metric including: global minimization interpretation, infinitesimal rigidity, incompleteness and the corresponding completion, asymptotic distance to the boundary, as well as the coarse geometry. We will also compare the earthquake metric to other metrics on Teichmuller space. This is a joint work with Y. Huang, K. Ohshika, and A. Papadopoulos.
