Recently, according to the document Notice of the Ministry of Education on Announcing the Results of Record and Approval of Undergraduate's Degree Programs in Ordinary Institutions of Higher Education for the Year of 2023 (《Education Higher Letter 〔2024〕 No.6), the undergraduate degree programs in applied physics declared by our college was approved by the Ministry of Education for record.

Applied Physics majors to train students to master the basic theories and methods of physics, with good mathematical foundation and experimental skills, and at the same time have a good humanities, ethics and scientific literacy, to accept the initial training of scientific research, not only in the field of physics, but also in the photoelectricity detection and semiconductor applications and other related fields of science and technology to continue to further their studies or engage in scientific research in the above related industries, teaching, technological development and related management work. The program is designed to provide students with advanced applied talents in the field of physics, optoelectronic detection and semiconductor applications.

The declaration of new majors is aimed at serving the construction of Shanghai's five centers and the strategy of a strong manufacturing country, further optimizing and adjusting the school's professional structure and strengthening the connotation construction and management of majors to meet the needs of enterprises and the society. To this end, the university actively carries out in-depth research on specialties, explores innovative modes of adjustment and optimization of disciplines and specialties, integrates and optimizes various resource elements, arranges new directions and specialties in keeping with the times, fosters applied innovative talents based on morality education, cultivates professional, responsible and internationalized talents, and builds a high-level university of applied sciences that is closely integrated with the industry, academia and research.
