On the afternoon of September 24, Associate Professor Bai Liang from School of Mathematics, Taiyuan University of Technology was invited to give an academic report entitled: Positive solutions for singular impulsive Dirichlet boundary value problems. The lecture was hosted by Mr. Fu Xi.

Introduction: Liang Bai, Ph.D., Associate Professor of School of Mathematics, Taiyuan University of Technology, received his Ph.D. degree from Central South University of China in 2012, and his research interests are the existence and multisolvability of solutions of impulsive differential systems based on critical point theory. His research interests include the existence and multisolutions of impulsive differential systems based on critical point theory. He is the chair of two National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and has published more than 20 SCI papers in national and international academic journals.

In this presentation, Mr. Bai introduces a class of singular impulsive differential equations with Dirichlet marginals and explains the practical significance of considering positive solutions to such problems. By putting some restrictions on the nonlinear and impulse terms, the existence of positive solutions for such equations can be obtained. At the very core of the report, Mr. Bai details how to transform singular problems into non-singular ones by means of approximation conditions and critical point theory and how to go over the process from weak solutions to classical solutions.

Through Mr. Bai's report, we further realized the important application of critical point theory in the existence and multisolvability of solutions of impulsive differential systems. Some teachers and students also had in-depth exchanges and discussions with Mr. Bai Liang after the presentation.
